museu a céu aberto.

A Calçada Portuguesa é elaborada a
Vale realmente a pena fazer pé a
pretas e brancas.

With
the business card made to this amazing avenue, let's refer the reason it is on
our list, Roc2c, of the "10 most beautiful pavements".
The
project of this boulevard was approved between 1877 and 1879 by the Lisbon City
Council and its inauguration was in 1886 but only later, in the beginning of
twentieth century (1907)
the sidewalk was paved, being one of the first pavements in Lisbon, the
type of settlement used at this time was "Malhete". This type of
settlement is known to be laid freely, with irregular stones, allowing the
"mating" of them. This technique allowed the stone monetization, and
there was no waste. Thus, due to the detail and the rigor of the artificie, the
"Malhete" is currently highly valued.
In
this Avenue we can step on and at the same time appreciate this art form and
the unique patterns that we find here.
The Portuguese Cobblestone is
elaborated from calcareous stones, worked and settled by hand, being able to
have geometric, figurative or specific elements. It's worth it to walk on this
boulevard two, three or four times and let yourself be carried by the wavy
pattern and symmetries of this small stones, all of them black and white.
